9:00 EST, chum. See you there.

I am usually in California Pacific zone, currently in Mountain zone , and watch party starts at 9 EST. I am sure I am going to miss it as the East Coast is currently using Eastern Daylight Time ;-)

That was fun. Not generally a fan of blaxploitation but Jim Brown was a good actor.

  • Ken_Begg

Yeah, I can never keep that straight. I should just start saying Eastern time.

The screen loved him, that was for sure. Really only Fred Williamson was in his class as a leading man, although there were lots of great actors in the genre, like Bernie Casey and Yaphot Kato and Scatman Cruthers.

  • I think the thing with Casey and Kotto was that they were just a little too respectable to really get into the spirit of the thing, at least as required to carry a whole Blaxploitation film on their backs, although they were great in their own rights and had more successful mainstream careers than either Brown or Williamson.

Oh, we were all racking our brains over the last time an NFL player successfully transitioned to a successful acting career since the late 70s/early, and the only one big enough to be immediately recognizable, as far as I recall, is Terry Crews. Although he was not a star player like Brown (arguably the greatest running back in NFL history), Williamson, Alex Karras, Bubba Smith, Dick Butkis, etc. he’s had a hell of a lot of success as a comic actor.

  • Scatman Cruther was great, but generally just played Scatman Crothers, even in “Hong Kong Fooey”.

Brian Bosworth mediocre player, mediocre actor. He does well in those Dr. Pepper commercials.

  • Yeah but he made that transition a good 10 years before Crews.

Oh, I did not know we were looking for latest.
