Time sensitive, obviously.
I’m going to highlight a couple of anime series (I know, sorry), because Amazon has a zillion things on radical sale today and there’s too much normal content to try to get to much of it. OK, OK, I will say you could do FAR worse than the fantastic ’50s TV Western Have Gun Will Travels, which you can buy on DVD today for $36. That’s for 35 discs (!!!) worth of content, and it’s a great show.
Anime is often super expensive on home video, but today two of my favorite series are on quite good sales.
When I went to Texas Sandy’s son Arthur and his family were in attendance. I brought down and gave his four daughters, ages 5 to 12, a copy of Bofuri I Don’t Want to Get Hurt so I’ll Max Out My Defense. This is an utterly charming and funny show that really nails every production aspect I think of. I’ve rewatched it multiple times and really can’t think of anything I think wouldn’t enjoy it. Even Sandy watched a couple of episodes. The girls all loved it, although they watched the dub for obvious reason. Anyway, this would also make a great gift, especially for young girls, and Christmas approaches. 12 episodes for, today, for $25. I have a set, have given away two sets, and still bought two more to keep as emergency gift fodder. The show is also *highly* rewatchable.
Perhaps a bit of a harder sell is Super Cub, the story of a high school girl with no family or friends or hobbies who ends up with a Honda Super Cub and finds her world expanding. The stakes are very small and there’s very little drama in the show, which I could see many finding disconcerting or even boring. I will also say the watching the show requires one’s actual attention, because the rewarding moments are small, quiet and nuanced. Still an absolutely terrific example of the slice of life and healing genres. I truly love this show. Available today for $28 dollars for 12 episodes, down from the $64 list price.
Do you guys see anything great for sale today?
