G-Fest movies announced…

Every summer the Canadian publisher of G-Fan magazine comes to the Chicago area to hold G-Fest, the Godzilla fan convention. Obviously there are times when more is going on with the character, and right now things are pretty active.

One of the best advantages of this situation is that even if, like me, you are past the point where attending the actual convention holds much appeal for you, they still run giant monster movies in my beloved Pickwick Theatre, a gorgeous old school movie palace that I pretty much grew up in.

They just today announced this year’s line-up:

Thursday July 11th

Godzilla’s Revenge 1:00
Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster (pretty sure it used to be Ghidrah, but whatever) 3:00

X The Unknown 7:00 PM
Godzilla Mothra Ghirdorah: All Monster Attack 9:00 PM

Friday July 12th

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) 10:30 PM

Saturday July 13th

Monster Zero 10:30 PM

Free lodging to anyone who wants to come in for the con and/our movies. If you do, the Superdawgs are one me.

I wish I could be there to see the old Toho classics on the big screen. Have fun!

I wish you were there to! If anyone has a local venue showing old monster movies, let me know and we can post something here.

I thought I heard they were planning to premier NOTZILLA, DUKE OF THE MONSTERS at G-Fest this year. Possibly it’s going to be in the actual convention hall? Or maybe they’ve decided to hold off. For a movie which could do very well if handled the right way, the studio has been rather hesitant to start advertising it as my eye sees it.

They might be showing it at the con itself. These are side movies they show at an actual nearby theater.

‘Notzilla’? Is that some indie monster film?

  • I like that Ghidorah plays right after Godzilla’s Revenge. It’s like they’re giving a near instant apology for the first film.

  • Ken_Begg

Ha, yes, if you’re playing those two, don’t show Ghidorah first.

I’m hoping to take my niece to see Ghidorah, that would be fan.
