Yeah, I'd seen them some time ago where a commentator wondered the same thing. His idea was it must be the ultimate in political correctness. How can anyone be offended if no one can figure out what the hell they are!?!

I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry though at the woman from the PRC complaining about them resembling a security camera in the article though. If you're from Communist China I don't think you have much room to talk about the UK or anyone else being a police state....

Thanks Eric for the link, I'd forgotten about Izzy. Only thing I remember about the Atlanta Olympics was when my boss flew down to see them being very tempted to call the local radio station and asking them to play 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia' in her honor.

Personally I'd have went with a comic British lion in tennis shoes and a track suit or some such but I'm not a big PR guy so what do I know?

Considering that the promotional material from London says their eye is a camera to record everything, I don't think she's reaching too far here.

And when you consider the fact that London is possibly the most surveilled cities in the world, that's some great irony.
