I hope this isn't another 'Lone Ranger'. It should help that I doubt it needs a big budget; part of the charm of the original movies and show was the low budget.

I'm not saying anything against his acting, I just think that Carl ought to be a bit seedy and rumpled. He should look and feel like a guy who's been in the journalistic trenches for quite some time. I just can't see Mister Depp as being able to portray that.
