Notice on the LOST WORLD cover, the Rex is based on the Marx toy highlighted in DINOSAURUS! the very same year!

I cry foul! That Beyond the Black Hole cover is incredibly inaccurate. Not only was the U.S.S. Palamino blown up by the time the crew went through the Black Hole, but B.O.B. was also dead by that point. How can we take that comic seriously with a travesty like that?

...

I don't know what depresses me more: knowing all that or knowing that after not seeing the film in over two decades.

Cool covers, by the by. I had no idea about the Black Hole spin off. Most interesting.

Thanks for posting those Rock! Not the only time someone has swiped someone else's art assuming apparently no one would notice!

Cmmw: I had (and still have I think - somewhere) the old 'Black Hole' comics. The first two issues were a comic retelling of the movie- in the third the survivors of the Palamino find a parallel universe with it's own Cygnus and maniacal Reinhart. On board is another B.O.B. and Palamino- though it looks like the same one from the movie. Seems the cover illustrator hadn't seen the original Palamino or didn't care. This was the fourth and last issue which didn't seem to have had much distribution. I didn't even know it existed till this blog.

PS: From the comments section on the link it seems this is the Palamino II, a much more advanced spacecraft they found in the parallel universe.

Okay, I was thinking it might be something akin to a shuttlecraft, like a section of the Palamino that could detach for away missions, like that pod that lowered from the Jupiter 2.

As to the film itself, I thought it far better than it's reputation would suggest.

Deeply interesting trivia. Thanks for the info!
