I think OASIS was worse, due mostly to it's being more boring. There's so much 'stuff' happening in ZOMBIES LAKE at any given moment it has a certain berserk entertainment value that's missing from OASIS. It's certainly better shot, too, assuming all prints of OASIS are as murky as the one I have on a fairly old VHS release. For what it's worth, LAKE also features 70% more nudity than your average horrible and inept monster movie, which at least keeps things interesting aesthetically.

That's interesting. After watching Zombie Lake I found myself thinking Oasis improved by comparison. Not a lot, mind you, but I don't recall being quite as bored with it as I was Lake. Different strokes, I guess.

It's not the worse zombie flick I've seen, but it isn't something I think I'd watch again.

Currently trapped between this reality and the next battling rabid stuffed alligators in order to keep you all safe. Ingrates.

OASIS almost had a good set-up, so I can see where it might edge ahead (granted, had LAKE been a good movie, I can see where a European village under attack by undead nazis might have worked as a good situation for a horror movie too). It just seems like there were longer stretches where nothing happened in OASIS, in my memory. LAKE's undraped female population at least provided more distraction. OASIS had long stretches that were probably supposed to be moody and spooky, but were so inept as to be boring instead. LAKE seemed to have more frequent stupidity and ineptitude, although both films are close. LAKE, in my mind, edges to the front for entertainment value, but the lead is fairly slim.

I've not seen Zombie Lake yet, although I will be soon since it's on Netflix. I mentioned it to the lady of the house, and she surprised me by being interested in seeing it with me. I told her there's female nudity all over the place and, as far as I recall from reviews, no corresponding male nudity, but she didn't seem to mind. So she's happy to watch this, yet falls asleep during giant monster movies, even the good ones. I just don't get women.

Anyway, I didn't think Oasis was all that terrible. This may be because I've also seen Burial Ground, Hell of the Living Dead, and Nightmare City, but while the opening scene makes no sense and the first part's a bit slow, I rather enjoyed the second half, which I felt got things moving. I thought it was more fun than bad. I'm not saying it was in the league of Let Sleeping Corpses Lie and Zombi 2, or even The Gates of Hell and Zombie Holocaust, but it was better than those first three I mentioned.
