Monster of the Day #4077

Still with Assignment: Terror. So there’s a small group of aliens wanting to take over the Earth. Their planet is dying, the same motive as Christopher Lee’s in the wacky Starship Invasions. That movie came later, but it’s noticeable that the aliens here (led by a cravat-sporting Michael Rennie) basically are using Plan 9 from Outer space as their strategy. Although their version involves resurrecting Earth’s legendary monsters instead of three whole zombies. This makes their scheme about twice as good, which isn’t saying much. Meanwhile, the aliens’ downfall–oops, sorry–is the same as Ro-Man’s. In the end, despite their supposedly superior lack of emotion (and sex) they wish to live like Hu-Mans too. Sadly, they have their own Great Guidance and things end about the same way, only minus the dinosaurs.

The reason is that the monsters aren’t much better is that a) the Mummy is no great shakes, and b) neither is the Vampire. He relies on hypnosis and is distressingly lame in a brawl. Exit Vampire.
