I know most of you don’t care about anime, but I think Akira is a title that transcend that medium. It’s an authentic cinema / sci-fi classic. It’s like how I’d recommdend Metropolis to someone who doesn’t like silent movies.
Sep 4 is the Friday before Labor Day Monday. The film will play in both dubbed and subtitled version, with a 4K presentation in IMAX theaters. I haven’t seen this in decades, so I’ll definitely be there.
