Monster of the Day

  The approaching release date for The Avengers has me in a classic Marvel frame of mind. Let's run with that for a bit.

Since I already had featured the film's (by far) most famous monster, I saved this, my second favorite, for the wrap-up. I always liked this sort of thing. This second still gives a better look at it, sans the red tinting. You don't exactly have to be Sigmund Freud (or Georgia O'Keeffe) to suspect…

Man, I love me some blob monsters. The white dome on top of the monster is actually as eye, as seen below.

I guess we know what Sid Pink's Quatermass and the Pit would have looked like.

I'm assuming this is the pet of the Atomic Submarine monster. UPDATE: Here's a better long shot of the same beastie. It sure is cute!

Has there been a monster movie that's been a patch on this one in the last 22 years? I don't think so. The three sequels are all pretty entertaining as well, a rarity. Never saw the TV show.

Like Joan Rivers and Michael Jackson, that Horror of Party Beach guy just went to the plastic surgery well way too often.
