Jabootu's Bad Movie Dimension

Sunday those of us that stayed around tested new games and (surprised) watched cheesy movies. We started watching Andy Sidaris' Seven, with "Big" Bill Smith. However, shortly after that some of Sandy's grandkids came to visit, so we hurriedly stopped that and started up with X from Outer Space. It was a big hit…

The finale T-Rex movie (OK, "T-Rex" is loosely define) was Beast from Hollow Mountain, a pretty boring Western enlivened by a nice 10 minute dino-rampage. It's no Valley of Gwangi, that's for sure, but look at that thing. It's adorable.

The third movie was the fantastic Golden Bat (Odon Bat), revolving around the skeletal manga hero who is considered by some to be the first superhero. The rat guy is the villain. It's pretty much the greatest movie ever made. Sandy had it on a Euro DVD that sold it as a Fantomas (!!)…

Sigh, I guess I had to return to the real world at some point. T-Fest 2019 was successful as usual, we really have this down after 15 years (and 25 shows counting the spring editions). The first movie was Hanging for Django, which proved the first of several Euro genre films we watched while…

I guess I'll go with Wes Craven's Cursed, although it didn't go very well and nobody remembers it and it features (apparently) CGI werewolves. As a rule, those have not been successful.…

We continue towards lackluster days. Shawn of the Dead is brilliant (and the Dawn of the Dead remake was surprisingly good), but again, zombies are pretty generic. Far worse is the attempts to turn monsters into blockbuster material. Van Helsing? Blecch. Saw started a whole semi-genre, but I don't think Jigsaw was in it…

I guess 23 Days Later was the 'big' horror movie in 2003, but their zombies looked like everyone else's zombies. Since everyone knows I have a certain amount of affection for this film, I'll be self-indulgent and pick this.

It's the worst thing to come out of a TV until the last season of Game of Thrones, amiright? (See, I can do topical.) Happy Friday, everyone! And just a week away from meeting up at Sandy's for this year's T-Fest. I hope to see some of you there. The Ring was an unexpectedly…
