The penultimate film (more on that tomorrow) at this year’s B-Fest was A Gnome Named Gnorm. A couple of years ago they showed the similar To Catch a Yeti with Meatloaf, which I thought was worse, but mileage varied in our group. With the titular animatronic provided by director (!) Stan Winston, Chad R’s old friend Victoria (thanks for joining us!) was particularly horrified. Apparently this really tripped the Uncanny Valley for her.
It had a bit of a cast (Anthony Michael Hall, Jerry Orbach, Claudia Christian, Robert D’Zar), but the tone was really weird. It seemed to be a kid’s film, but then there’d be an off-color joke and you’d be like, “Who was this made for?”
