Monster of the Day #3872

So the weekend after B-Fest we started Basement Fest, our private Fest we started when B-Fest was knocked out by Covid.

We always start with Joe Bannerman’s movie because he’s a dick and always shows something really awful, like Things. This year’s choice was 1981’s The Pit, which I’ve never liked at all. Indeed, I’d have called it The Pits. (Get it?)

Centered around a creepy little sex pervert (maybe 14 or so?), the kid has access to a pit barely outside of town which somehow no one else has ever found. Down in the pit are little monsters, and the kid regularly shoved people he doesn’t like–which is like everyone–down there to get eaten. Oh, and he has a teddy bear with glowing eyes that apparently has nothing to do with anything. The movie really kind of sucks. To be fair, though, my friend Jeff liked it on the basis it was very weird.
