Jabootu's Bad Movie Dimension

I assume the beastie on the poster was meant to represent this: That thing is barely in the film, suggesting that they decided to toss a more overt monster in there for a minute or two just so they could feature one on the poster to draw the kids in. I have to admit,…

A shockingly risque poster for the day, I'd have thought. Needless to say, the film doesn't live up to it. Although it would have if the 'alien' didn't walk backwards away from the camera all the time. Famously, the outfit they gave the actress was so tight the backside split open. This might have…

This is one of a couple of AIP horror movies taking advantage of the whole Bridey Murphy thing. The Unknown Undead was the other. Larry Buchanan remade this as he did yesterday's. Those remakes are awful, but to be fair they were shot in color for $25,000, a sum at the time that even…

Ah, AIP. The company that famously came up with an exploitable title first, then some poster art which they shared with owners on the drive-in circuit. If the response was positive, *then* they wrote a script and shot the film. I've done at least one week of these before, and the five we'll do…

Although I'm not nearly as conversant with his work as Bill Paxton's, this week also say the passing of Neil Fingleton, formerly the tallest man in Britain. As often happened with people that tall, he died much too young, at 36. Mr. Fingleton appeared in Doctor Who and Game of Thrones, among other things.…

Farewell, sir. You will very much be missed. Mr. Pullman (ARGGGH) Paxton made a lot of genre films, and I'm sure we're all generally conversant with them. However, his best performance might be in the extremely good if very hard edged crime film One False Move, in which Paxton plays a Southern small town…

Despite being called (here, at least) Dracula vs Frankenstein, the film's monster battle involved neither of them. It was Paul Naschy's Werewolf vs the film's Mummy, probably because that was a rare monster the Werewolf hadn't fought yet. I know he fought a Yeti at one point. Needless to say, the Mummy gets creamed…

We've featured Waldemar Daninsky before, but none of the films seem to be in continuity with each other, so I guess he's sort of a different monster each time. Anyway, he's the star of this film (along with Michael Rennie) so it seemed churlish to leave him out.

A rather run of the mill Dracula (and not even Dracula in the Euro version, I think), but still head and shoulders above the other two we've featured lately. Does he actually fight the Frankenstein Monster? I don't recall the film that well, but I don't think so. Franco's film is clearly the worst…
