So many made for video movies following the 80s, although as least this era featured monster suits rather than horrible SYFY CGI. And they often assembled pretty good casts. This one boasts Peter Riegert (was a sarcastic police detective, which he seemed to play a ton of), Joan Severance, William Hickey, Laurence Tierney and…
Despite the deformed re-design, this is (unsurprising as the show seems partly meant as a primer to introduce kids to the Marvel Universe) the episodic cartoon version of Dracula that most resembles the classic Marvel Gene Colan Dracula. Have a great pre-Halloween weekend, everyone. Enjoy a classic monster movie or two.
DC still (although I don't like their post-Timm/Dini cartoons as automatically) has the edge on animated fare. Their kiddie show, Batman Brave and the Bold, is great for adults, while Marvel's, Super Hero Squad, is a bit too childish for my tastes. Also, I never liked that 'deformed' look. On the other hand, it…
So there's a giant spider in Africa (being filmed by an Erich Von Strohiem-esque director) whose attacking natives who are very stereotypical except that they are...white? To keep from being 'racist' maybe? I don't know. Of course, Spider-Woman and Spider-Man make their way to Africa (and then Paris) because it's their idiom, don't you…
I used the classic monsters, so I don't know if I'll get another week out of this, but I had a pic or two left over. So why not. Spider-Woman seems to have contained a fair amount of monster-ish content in it's 16 episodes. On the other hand, those who made cartoons back then…
Then there was the time, apparently, when Dr. Frankenstein captured the Superfriends with his slime monster and sucked out their powers (including, er, Batman's) to make a Super-Monster. As one would.
Dracula also plagued the Superfriends (not the season we examined, this was one of the Wonder Twins years). As was often the case in this violence-free cartoon era, Dracula made people vampires by shooting vampire beams at them, generally from his hands or eyes. This is Attack of the Vampire, also on Dailymotion. Enjoy!
