Kirk Draut, who along with his wife Patty is my perennial Fest host down in Houston (they’ve attended every Fest we’ve done since the first one in Austin), works behind and in front of the camera in this pilot for a show based on Gator Pit’s Ritch Robin, whose company makes these amazing custom-made from scratch barbeque pits.
I’ve met Ritch several times via Kirk, and the man is living the dream. It’s a side of America you don’t see much anymore (certainly not up here in Illinois), the self-made man running his own business and succeeding by dint of just putting out superior work. Anyway, give the show a look. It premieres next Wednesday night, June 26th, at 9:00 Central time, right after Mythbusters.
