Monster of the Day #699

You know, some day I’ve got to watch some of these shows.

  • Cullen Waters

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO POOR BIG BIRD!

  • Ericb

That’s North Korean version of Big Bird.

  • Flangepart

And he’s covered in red chili peppers.

  • Ken_Begg

That’s from the sadly rare Sesame Street production The Birdster.

  • SteveWD

I don’t even want to think what Snuffleupagus would look like.

  • I still prefer the original Pandon.

  • Cullen Waters

What’s really sad is the I had to read your comment twice before I got it…

  • The Rev.

I guess it’s even sadder then that I’m not getting it.

  • The Rev.

While I really liked King Gesura, I think I agree on this one. I like Pandon and also Neo Pandon, but King Pandon here…I don’t know, I think he’s too detailed and crisp-looking or something. This looks more like something that’d show up on the Power Rangers than an Ultraman series. No, “Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad.” That’s it.

  • Ken_Begg

    Don’t be. It’s pretty lame.

  • Ericb

I know it ruins the effect but could you explain it. Googling “Birdster” doesn’t help any.

  • Cullen Waters

    Try Manster instead.

  • Ericb

Ah, now I get it. But in Manster one of the heads was a normal human head.

  • My Brother tells me this is what it was supposed to look like in the first place, but the crew was having trouble building the twin heads and getting the gears to work correctly. More or less at the last moment, they decided to go with the joined head because it was easier to work mechanically. I favor the two-headed version over the two-faced version, if only because I can wrap my imagination around a creature with two disinct heads more easily than I can the Picasso creature that first appeared.

  • The Rev.

    Ooooooooohhh. Okay.

    *shakes fist* BEEEEEEEEEEEEGG!!!!

  • BobTanaka

“Excuse me? Why is this town called ‘Twin Beaks’?”
“I don’t know. I’ve always wondered that myself.”
