This Week on TCM…

Some stuff that caught my eye, but always check their schedule for more. All times CST.

Monday

A morning of Laurel & Hardy Shorts! Yay! Don’t  be put off by the silent ones, they includes some of the Boys’ best work. Unsurprisingly, they’ve scheduled really strong shorts, here. Especially noteworthy is Big Business (7:30 AM), in which the Boys and the mighty Jimmy Findlayson engage in one of the best tit for tat battles of all time.

5:00 AM Do Detectives Think?
5:30 Putting Pants on Phillip
6:00 You’re Darn Tootin’
6:30 Two Tars
7:00 Habeas Corpus
7:30 Big Business
8:00 Double Whoopie
8:30 Angora Love

Wednesday

3:45 PM Picture Mommy Dead William Castle-esque Horror film directed by Bert I. Gordon and starring Zsa Zsa Gabor!
5:30 PM Riders to the Stars ‘50s sci-fier about astronauts trying to capture a meteor. Not that well known do to lack of monsters; it’s straighter space exploration stuff. Starring Richard Carlson.
3:15 AM The Racket Nice, tough cop vs. hoods flick starring Robert Mitchum, Robert Ryan, William Conrad and Les Tremayne.

Friday

Late Night Cult Slot
1:30 AM Freaked Fun flick by Alex Winters of Bill & Ted fame.
3:00 UHF Weird Al’s movie.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Carlson also directed Riders to the Stars.  From what I’ve read, the movie is okay but not very exciting (or plausible).  An Ivan Tors production.
