Where do “utterly ridiculous” and “utterly awesome” meet on the graph?

Right here.

    I can see it now!

    Master Gunfight 2012

  • Kirk Draut

Sadly, two shots fired by one trigger makes it a machine gun in the eyes of the clowns at the BATFE.

Heavy, bulky, impractical…  yet I really, really, really want one.

  • Gamera977

I’m revealing my ignorance about handguns here but um, instead of going though all the problems of twin barrels why not just go with a heavier single barrel pistol???

Well aside from looking cool of course.

  • Kirk Draut

There’s no practical reason for a double-barrel pistol.  NONE.  It’s all about looking cool.

  • Ken_Begg

Kirk — As far was I can tell, it actually has two triggers, side by side.

  • It’s just real life catching up with video games.

  • bgbear_rogerh

you can smack people with your empty shells from both sides weeeee!

  • Kirk Draut

That’s… odd.  Since it only has one slide, you have to fire both barrels at the same time unless you want to eject an unfired round you you shoot.

  • Flangepart

    Oh, for…this is incredibly, incredibly….stupid!
This is a parody, right? A joke film from the SHOT SHOW or AMERICAN SHOOTER?
    Please tell me it’s a joke…
The combined recoil of two 230 grain 45. ACP is equal to ONE .445 Casull. And yeah, if the slides are one piece, it ain’t gonna work unless both barrels are discharged, because the recoil is part of the operating force on this kind of gun.

  • Ken_Begg

Well, functionally it may be impossible to fire only one barrel, and moreover perhaps the triggers are yolked in some way. Even so, the side to side shots in the video clearly show two, side by side triggers. For stability’s sake, perhaps?

  • I did some more digging.  They are talking about 2 different models, one with dual triggers and one with a single trigger.  No export to the USA is planned, so it’s a moot point.

I can’t imagine trying to manipulate only one trigger on that.  The grip looks like it has all of the ergonomics of a cinderblock.

I fully expect to see that show up in a Vin Diesel movie in the next five years.

  • I don’t think recoil would be that bad.  Think about how heavy that must be.  I’d rather shoot  the 2011 than put a couple cylinders of +P ammo through my snubbie.

  • Greenhornet

GET SMART beat them too it in the sixties with a double barrel/cylender S&W model 36.
Kirk Draut is right, going by the description in the federal firearms act of 1934, it’s a machinegun.

  • Kirk Draut

Check out the Tromix Lead Delivery Systems firearms webpage.  Tony built a double-barreled M-16 with crossed gas tubes so that one action cycles the other one.  Insane…

  • John Woo is having an orgasm looking at this.

  • Flangepart

And I’m still laughing my a$$ off. Oh, and Itrallian ad dude, if you miss with all that lead, you ain’t doing better than a jamoke with an MP-5.

  • Marsden

Would this have better stopping power?  Like if you wake up and an elephant snuck in and you plug’em, wil it take him down?   I’m joking but my dad was telling me about a story he heard in the Army stationed in Alaska about a polar bear getting in and it took six shots to the head to stop it.  I don’t remember what kind of sidearm it was but probably standard M-1911A1 issue at the time.  Oh well.
