Monster of the Day #255

So endeth Fine Arts Week here at MotD.

I wonder if that was inspired by the Dark Horse comics arc where someone was taking Godzilla through time, to the sites of great wars or disasters, and letting Godzilla run amok while they stole everything that wasn’t nailed down.

    Great painting, regardless.

Now, I don’t know what art is, but I know it when I see it, and this, this is Art!

    “Jeezus H!. . . .oh, sorry rabbi”

  • This is the most wonderful picture I have ever laid eyes on.

Well, it’s the best thing I’ve seen all morning, at any rate. Go go Godzilla!

  • roger h

Funny, at first glance it would seem Godzilla is the most anachronistic thing about this picture, however, it looks like Rembrandt did little research in depicting what a boat at the time of Christ would have looked like.

However, I give the Dutchman credit for getting the Big G to sit still and pose for this.

    Son of God meets Godzilla?

  • Rock Baker

So someone matted Godzilla into a famous Biblical painting? How strange. It looks incredible, but how strange.

And so Godzilla finally meets an oppenent he’s helpless against. This must’ve been the event that turned him into a good guy in the late 60s.

    HA!

  • To my shame, I didn’t realize who was in the boat. I just saw a pretty picture.

Not sure I would have change my first comment that much, though… It is a good picture…

here is some help Cullen :)

Put your hand in the hand of the Man who stilled the water
Put your hand in the hand of the Man who calmed the sea
Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently
By putting your hand in the hand of the Man who stopped Godzilli

  • Thanks, Roger H. Need all the help I can get… apparently…

  • David Fullam

    Oh hell yeah!

  • The Rev.

Cullen: Don’t feel bad, I didn’t notice him until after reading these comments this morning.

  • Flangepart

We need more of this. Seriously, I’d love to see the Metro museam of art try this kinda exhibition.
    Never happen, but…
