Hmm, the Thor movie doesn’t look as good as I expected…

lord o’ mighty, Hollywood is an interesting place. such creativity and originality.

  • rizzo

Lol Asylum rules!! In that one scene, I think they’re fighting with the pyramid dealies that Betty wore on his chest in Kung Pow, that’s awesome!

As for the real one, it’s going to be great to see it at the drive in this weekend along with True Grit. Even if Thor isn’t that great, I’ll get at least one good movie along with some popcorn and a whole bunch of Captain Morgain’s finest rum!

  • Rizzo — Would that be at the Midway Drive-In in downstate Illinois, or is that just a regular pairing of the films playing all over?

  • BeckoningChasm

How can they do this without getting sued?

Also, that is the worst Mjolner ever. It looks like a giant dredl.

  • Well, because the Norse gods are all in the public domain; that’s undoubtedly why Thor seems to mainly use swords, and why his hammer is oddly shaped, to differentiate it from Marvel’s discrete version of Thor.

The bigger question is, will Marvel let the inevitable XXX ‘parody’ of their films go, as DC is doing?

  • Ericb

The “almighty” adjective gives it an Old Testament vibe that kind of jars.

  • roger h

inevitable XXX ‘parody’ Thanks Ken, now I am thinking about”The Hammer of Thor”

    NTTAWWT (I hope)

@Ken – Nope, Becky’s north of Allentown, PA:

I live at a great spot for drive ins, 3 of them within a half hour, including Shankweiler’s.

  • Mr. Rational

This from the people that gave us such other instant classics as “The Day the Earth Stopped,” “Transmorphers,” and my personal favorite, “Snakes on a Train.”

Actually, there’s something about The Asylum that I admire…a sort of reckless copycattery combined with an actual work ethic to turn ’em out. Now, if only their films were more fun. Or, in most cases, FUN.

  • Toby Clark

I still can’t work out how they got away with “The Terminators”

  • John Campbell

Wasn’t there a snakes on a submarine one too? I think Luke Perry was in that one.

  • The Rev.

JC: That’s Silent Venom. I don’t think it’s an Asylum piece, though; it was directed by Fred Olen Ray and as far as I know he’s not working with them in that capacity.

  • Grumpy

“…combined with an actual work ethic…”

Giving work to Richard Grieco is never ethical.

Nothing wrong with the oddly-shaped Mjolnir. According to folklore, it’s always been pointy & stubby.
