House: Criterion Collection

Just a wonderful, wacky film. If you wanted something for Halloween that no one has seen before (unless they went to T-Fest), here’s your chance. Amazon currently has the lowest price on it (it’s $35 on Blu Ray), and you’ll need a bit more to get free shipping.* And it carries the Sand Petersen Seal of Approval. Of course, so do Herschell Gordon Lewis movies, so…

*Er, just noted the release date is the 26th, so with the free shipping you might not actually have it by Halloween.

This movie is so crazy! I definitely need to pick it up.

If anyone has ever wished for a Japanese version of an “Evil Dead” movie, here you go. The bizarre thing is, it actually came out BEFORE The Evil Dead, which I would never have guessed on my own.

Either way, Sandy’s SoA is on it, and if it matters at all, mine is too.

This’d be a good choice for Hallowe’en. Maybe a double bill with The Seventh Curse (which I assume Sandy also has ’cause it seems like it’d be right up his alley).

  • Gamera

    I am so tempted……

  • Rock Baker

Sand Peterson? Oh, what will Sandy think when he sees that? Actaully, I kind of like the sound of it. Sand Peterson, -Secret Agent!

  • Marsden

The Sand Man. That sounds like a cool nickname.

I’m probably not helping am I.

  • Evil Dead? Hausu is a weird haunted house movie, but I don’t see the evil dead connection. No one gets possessed, for instance. There is a dismemberment or two I suppose.

All those who wish to offend me must first spell my last name correctly, or I won’t be able to recognize your insults as referring to me.

I’m strongly considering showing exclusively Mexican horror movies on Halloween. Seriously.

  • Rock Baker

Sorry about that (I certainly didn’t intend insult, but it looks like I managed to do it anyway!). My most humble applogies.

    Sincirely,
    Roc Bakir

It’s just the vibe and energy it possesses. It actually more resembles ED II with the weird humor and the possessed furniture and blood pouring out of walls and what-not. It’s just got the feel of an ED movie, to me at least. YMMV and all that.

Dunno about that cover they chose. They should’ve taken the image from the end credits, the house with the long-tongued mouth for a door. That cat has a part to play, but the mouthed house tells you a lot more about the movie.

  • Rock Baker

It looks a little like the cover for a collection of halloween cartoons…
