SALE OVER!!!

I’m sure this has been on sale before over the years, but it’s a great set for great price for anyone who hasn’t gotten it yet. 156 episodes (including that weird year of hour long shows) on 28 discs, and tons of extras for a thrifty $112, 63% off the MRSP. This is a great set, as you can tell from the reader reviews at Amazon. (The bad ones are the normal people bitching about the price, not the quality of the product.) The sale will last through tonight.

I own this, and it’s incredible. This is the way to put a TV series on DVD, there isn’t another set out there that comes close to completeness and comprehensiveness.

  • Yes, I have all the half hour shows (having sadly bought the seasons piecemeal), and this really is a textbook example of how to do a DVD release correctly.

  • The Rev. D.D.

We got this a couple of years ago, from a bunch of crazy friends who chipped in on it for us. It is about as flawless a DVD set as can be imagined, and I cannot recommend it enough.

It’s a shame I already own this, having bought it at full price. ‘Cause at $112, it’s quite a steal, and I’d buy it right now if I didn’t own it. It was nice to see a series box set that didn’t just dump the episodes onto DVD, tack on a few pathetic extras as a bone to the fans, and call it a day. Then again, this is one of the iconic series of American television, and it deserved the full treatment.

I’ve never seen the 80’s version of the Zone, but I did see the 2002-03 season that was hosted by Forest Whitaker. Did anyone else see that? How AWFUL was that?! Rod Serling, grave spinning…that’s all I’m sayin’.

    e.g. The Outer Limits

I think one of the chief reasons this set is so good is because Marc Scott Zircree was involved in it. That man must eat, sleep and breathe Twilight Zone. No way were they going half-ass with him involved.

  • It would be kind of nice if they did half as nice a job when the Boris Karloff show Thriller is released later this year. It will probably be bare-boned like the Outer Limits release, though.
