Friday’s Discord Watch Party movie was Tod Slaughter’s best film, Crimes of the Dark House (1940), If you’ve never seen a Slaughter picture before, you’re in for a treat. Slaughter was a British stage actor who toured the country doing crazy old melodramas, and playing to the whole house. Wonderfully, he didn’t change his acting style a smidge when he started doing movies. His characters tended to laugh with delight at his own wickedness. This has one of the best murders ever, or more accurately, best reactions to having committed a murder. Its on YouTube, and it’s a delight.
