I’m back…

…but am going to be extremely tied up with work stuff for the next couple of days.  I’ll get a T-Fest (our fifth!) report up this weekend.  It was a great success, and I’d especially like to thank Kirk and Patty and then Sandy and his wonderful family for hosting me while I’m down there.

Thanks also to all the people who attended, including such Jabootu long-timers as Chad R, the Rev D.D. (the prior two BOTH beat me at Sandy’s horror trivia game, much to my gross embarrassment) and the lovely Galaxy Jane.

Chad and the Rev are lovely too.  Don’t want to be sexist.

More to come.

  • We really enjoyed having you here. Maybe next year we can hit the BBQ joints in Lockhart.

  • The Rev. D.D.

Oh DAMMIT. You stole a joke I was going to put in my T-Fest report.

    And I quote:
“…the lovely and charming Mary, aka GalaxyJane; the equally lovely and charming Stephanie, once again accompanying Chad R. (who is also lovely and charming)…”

    CURSE YOU BEGG!!!

    *stomps off muttering*

  • Lawyer Ku

This pretty much says it all:

    See you next year.

  • Chad R.

    I feel pretty,
    Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!

  • GalaxyJane

Personally, I thought the cookies were lovely.

  • The Rev. D.D.

Yeah, who made those oatmeal chocolate chip ones? It took a bit of willpower not to carry the lot of them back to my seat, and then hiss at anyone who tried to get some from me…

I also pity anyone who isn’t Chad R. tonight.

  • 1) Rev, I hope you will allow us to publish your report here.
    2) It can’t be said enough: Chad R. has a purty mouth.
    3) Said cookies were fantabulous. I can’t (damn me for a cad) remember who brought them, however.
    4) Lawyer Chris, that is journalism at its finest! Kudos, my friend! I will note that the screening room we held the Fest in is bifurcated, and that by night time the other half of the room was nearly filled by Sandy’s college students. It from from these younger and more innocent souls that the greatest cries of horror and outrage arose.

  • Chad R.

Hey, how many of us T-Festers are Houston-based? I know myself and the Drauts are, but how ’bout the rest? I was wondering who might like to see Night of the Creeps in late August.

  • The Rev. D.D.

I figured I’d just bury it on the board again where the two or three people that read ’em can do so, but I’d be honored if you wanted to post it here.

I’ll send you a copy beforehand, and feel free to change your mind if it’s crap, or too long, or what have you.

Between school and work, and the lady of the house catching a nasty infection Tuesday that’s knocked her right out, I’ve had to put off work on it. It’s about half-done; I’ll see if I can’t get it to you by Monday at the latest. Not very timely, but there you go.

  • GalaxyJane

Dammit! I leave Texas for North Carolina on August 15th, otherwise I would so make the trip to Houston.

  • Chad R.

Aw. That makes me sad. And yet my sadness only makes me lovelier.

  • “I’ll send you a copy beforehand, and feel free to change your mind if it’s crap, or too long…

Yes, here at Jabootu those are purely *my* prerogatives.

  • …my sadness only makes me lovelier.

And yet you also beat me in the horror trivia contest. Beauty and intelligence…a deadly combination!

  • The Rev. D.D.

“Yes, here at Jabootu those are purely *my* prerogatives.”

What is it they say….you’re always your own worst critic? Seriously, go reread your Jaws tetralogy and then try bagging on yourself again.

I wish I could justify the expense of going out to Houston to see that movie in a theater, but I fear I cannot.

Sadly, I don’t know if my sadness makes me lovelier or not.
