
Sorry, I forget who, but one of you guys mentioned the passing of movie poster artist Drew Struzan last week. As we all remember, movie posters used to be a very big deal in terms of promotion, and Struzan’s work dominated the 70s and 80s. Mr. Struzan’s delightful work started with B-movies such as Food of the Gods and Squirm, but his path was set after he was hired by George Lucas to paint the poster for Star Wars. After that Struzan pretty much painted all the posters for Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s work of that period, most notable the Star Wars and Indiana Jones’ series.
