Call me a traditionalist, but I prefer a more classically roly poly Santa Claus myself.
Happy Friday, everyone! Watch something stupid this weekend. Meanwhile, we’ll start weekly Discord Watch Parties each Friday in October, so starting next week. These will all be horror / monster movies, natch. Theoretically we could do five of this, but the fifth Friday is actually Halloween, so I’m not sure if anyone would actually be available.
Two things to watch for in theaters this weekend. First, possibly the greatest superhero movie this side of The Dark Knight Returns is back in theaters tomorrow only. This is, of course, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2, featuring Doctor Octopus. Great movie.
Meanwhile, if I were to suggest one anime film to non-anime watchers it would be The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, because it’s a great time travel movie and who doesn’t like those? The subtitled version will be theaters Sunday and Tuesday, and the dubbed version on Monday. Well worth a look, and hey, it’s only 98 minutes long. Remember when movies were generally in that 90 minute range. Seriously, though, I really like this movie and if I were ever to show an anime film at T-Fest or something, that would be the one.
Also, Demon Slayer Infinity Castle is still in theaters. However, it’s really only for those who are up to date on the series and previous film. And if you are, I’m sure you’ve already seen it. This is the first of three films, the third of which is due in four years. The trilogy will wrap up the whole saga, because they actually end stories in Japan instead of milking things forever.
