Unfortunately about the first five movies I tried to show on Friday’s Discord Watch Party were blocked. Turns out an outfit called UMG is doing copyright strikes and this keeps things on YouTube from being watched on Discord. Sigh.
We were able to watch Voodoo Man (1946). This Monogram cheapie was about an hour long, and no great shakes It’s not quite as goofy as Invisible Ghost. However, look at the cast! Although Bela is underserved, the two guys above him, in case you can’t tell, are John Carradine (playing Lenny from Mice and Men) and George Zucco. It’s got as much fetish stuff as you can get away with in 1946, meta jokes with the hero (who does nothing) being a screenplay writer, and of course an all-star cast. Well, by our standards anyway.
The next Discord Watch Party will be a week from Friday, but then we’ll be watching weekend (instead of biweekly) horror movies for October. Assuming I can find four or five movies on YouTube that UMG hasn’t blocked.
