Hey, anyone else remember when ghost trains were a big thing in folklore? I’ve looked at some hefty old (from the 50’s) collections of American folklore and they had dozens of stories about them. I’ve even got a book from the 80’s that talks about the one-famous tale of the Lincoln Death Train.

Yeah a lot of great ones though history. I remember Manly Wellman wrote a great one in the John the Balladeer series though I can’t remember the name right now.

PS: Canadian YouTuber Hammerson Peters has some great tales of haunted Canadian and US trains on his YouTube channel. Worth a look if you’re into that sort of stuff.

Ya know I’ve seen a lot and I mean a LOT of great Christmas themed model railroad layouts. Funny I can’t think of ever seeing a Halloween themed one. And with as many creepy railroad stories as Eric pointed out along with lots of songs about haunted trains etc. you’d think they’d be at least one.

Thanks for the recommend. And I think the Wellman story was ‘The Little Black Train’.

I’ve seen a few sorta-horror related ones at some model train shows m brother’s taken me to. Some just have a few little jokes in the diorama the trains run on. Like one set in LA that has trains crossing a bridge over a storm channel, and giant ants are coming out of one of the drain openings in it.

    What, them, again?
