Monster of the Day #3360

Back to Bert I Gordon tomorrow.

Actually, I was planning to substitute Magic Sword for the Watch Party last Friday, in honor of Mr. Gordon. However, I checked the print on Amazon Prime and it was awful. So back to the long delayed Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf. And great timing, because when I queued it up I was notified it was leaving Prime in two weeks. Again, I wish they would figure out how to notify people of things in people’s watch list that is about to leave.

Anyway, I mean, how could we go wrong with this one. Reb Brown, Sybyl Danning, Ferdy Mayne, a typically magisterial Christopher Lee (who actually has a lot bigger part in this then he often did). I’ve said my piece on this film in the past, but needless to say, people seemed to like this one more than, say, Staying Alive.

Next Watch Party a week from Friday.

  • My memories of this film had it being a lot worse that it was. Maybe my standard for bad has… improved? Changed? Whatever. If it had more work done (and a better director) (and a better script writer) (and a better producer) (and better actors) it could have been a decent Horror flick.

I’d say right now it’s my favorite Howling movie. Though in fairness to the other Howling movies (why?) I haven’t seen them in decades. (And Howling 3 not at all.)

    (You can’t overuse parenthesis, right?))

He looks like he is just singing along to the car radio.

Not on this site, you can’t.

(I mean, glass houses and all that.)

  • This is off topic, but for anyone who cares, they are releasing the novellas Godzilla and Godzilla Raids Again October 3rd. These were written by Sci Fi author Shigeru Kayama, who helped make the first two Godzillas. It’s never been translated before and might be of some interest for fans of the King.

Thanks for sharing that. I’ll keep my eyes open for them.

    Neat! Thanks, Cullen.

‘It’s so cute when Spike howls to the car radio. Don’t tell him we’re taking him to the vet to get neutered though…’

  • Gamera977

Yeah sounds cool, I’d love to read them too!

Personally I don’t think it can compare to the first film but then again what can? ‘The Howling’ is personally my favorite werewolf film. But still this one is better than I remember it being.

And then ‘Howling III’ – awwww gee it’s so friggin’ just plain weird I’m not sure I like it or not.
