Monster of the Day #3279

“I’m up! I’M UP!! Ugh, I hate brunch on Saturday! It’s my one day off!”

  • Beckoning Chasm

“You no go there! Monsters there, vely scaly! Vely, vely scaly! You get scaled!”

  • OH DEAR SWEET GOD WHAT IS IT! KILL IT! KILL I–

Oh wait. It’s just a comic cover.

Amityville 3 was so devoid of chills that now everything scares me.

  • KeithB

“June, stop shrieking! You are such a terror sometimes!”

  • 🐻 bgbear_rnh

    Ugh, that bat got out.

  • Gamera977

To be honest I think ‘The Ghost and Mr. Chicken’ was scarier than ‘Amityville 3’.

  • Gamera977

‘I TOLD YOU I”D KILL YOU LATER!!!!!’

‘Dang living, always in such a rush!’

  • Gamera977

Well, I kicked off my Halloween horror viewing with ‘House on Haunted Hill’ 1959. A bit of cheesy fun. Sometimes you just need your Vincent Price fix. I find Price and Carol Ohmart’s constant bickering more fun than the horror aspects of the film.

  • I’m starting with Smile tomorrow, then a double feature of Boris Karloff with The Mummy/Bride of Frankenstein. All in theaters.

I apparently think I’m made of money.

  • I have a hard time of thinking of anything that isn’t scarier than…

Cathy’s Curse! Zombie Lake! The Black Cat/Demons 6!

There! Amityville 3 at least has that going for it!

  • Gamera977

Lucky guy! I’ve only seen them on a TV screen.

  • The Rev.

I started with a group watch of Killer Klowns From Outer Space, which a few people had not seen, dang young’ns. As expected, they were all delighted by it. As was everyone who’d already seen it. Because seriously, Killer Klowns.

  • Gamera977

    Yeah, it’s an awesome film!

  • 🐻 bgbear_rnh

I have never seen the full film but what i did see I was surprised to see it used the seaside amusement park where I once worked. Surprised because I worked there around the time it was filmed and either me our my wife or both of us worked on filmings.

  • Beckoning Chasm

“Killer Klowns! From outer space! Holy {smoke}!”

  • You might be able to see the double feature where you are. Fandango might not be a bad place to start.

So, I watched something terrible this weekend, and something good. Although neither was, should I say, “all that.”

The “terrible” was ‘Hudson Hawk,” widely regarded as the stone that sank Bruce Willis’ career. Well, I kind of liked it. I thought it was fun, but obviously given the budget, “fun” was a low bar to clear. If you have low expectations, it’s a lot of fun.

The “good” was “The Babadook” which is another in the series of “the boy ain’t right” films, along with similar entries like “The Hole In The Ground.” It was good, very atmospheric and well made. I’ve just seen too many of these things, really. It’s good, well made, very atmospheric and – yawn – I’ve seen it a lot lately.

  • The Babadook was very good, I thought. I watched it with my brother and his friend and all three of us had a different yet valid interpretation of what went on in the movie. Not too shabby for a modern Horror flick.

Last Friday I watched Smile and there’s a very familiar film for you. I had a good time–it’s quite well made–but I knew the general ending long before we reached it.

    Thanks- will check it out!

I saw ‘The Babadook’ a few years ago. I liked it! Deep Discount DVDs has it on sale but I already ordered a pile of stuff and don’t want to put in yet another order. Hopefully they’ll have it on sale next year again.
