Monster of the Day #3241

I’m sure I’ve noted before this is on Amazon Prime, but hey, it’s still on Amazon Prime, and it’s fabulous. You could certainly picked something worse to watch this weekend. Or we could use it for a watch party, although it’s not bad in any way. It is highly entertaining, though.

Happy Wednesday, in any case. Getting there.

  • CHUD! What a great flick! One of the few films where the secondary characters are far more interesting (and useful!) than the supposed leads. Just a wonderful viewing time!

  • Beckoning Chasm

Yeah, it’s a lot of fun. And the DVD’s director’s commentary is pretty hilarious.

I saw the sequel way back in high school on “U.S.A. Up All Night.” Even then I knew it was crap. I don’t know if that affected my taking forever to see the original (sometimes you just don’t get around to a movie), but I finally sat down and watched it a few years ago and was more than pleasantly surprised by its quality.

I don’t think there’s a rule that we have to watch only bad movies during watch parties, is there? I mean, sure, that’s definitely what we all go for, but I think a solid B-movie like this would be a fun change of pace sometime. I mean, if we could somehow do a watch party with, say, Ship of Monsters, no one would complain, right? And that’s the exact opposite of a bad movie, being perhaps the greatest movie ever made.

  • Actually, I sort of thought the “Bad Movies only” ship sunk with The Naked Kiss.

  • Beckoning Chasm

    “Cotton Comes to Harlem,” too.

  • Ken_Begg

    True enough.

Fair cop there, those were pretty good. I forgot we’d watched CCtH which I particularly enjoyed. I love a good blaxploitation flick. Or sometimes even a bad one.
