Monster of the Day #3312

So after all my dithering I finally picked a (completely obvious) movie and we finally got another Amazon Watch Party up and running last Friday night. Thanks to The Rev for hosting, since it turned out that a comically large number of us, including myself, were having computer issues. Thanks also to the several other people who volunteered, though.

So I finally picked Doctor of Doom, a wonderful monster/wrestling movie directed by Rene Cardona and brought north of the border, obviously, by K. Gordon Murray. This was one of the three Wrestling Women movies (one of which I don’t think ever got here), with the most famous to Americans probably being the series crossing Wrestling Women vs the Aztec Mummy. This was was the usual melange of super hot Mexican women, monsters, mad scientists, wrestling scenes, etc.

Anyway, everyone seemed to enjoy it. We’ll resume Watch Parties in January, after the holidays.

I’m glad everything went smoothly. I recall sometimes having slight buffering issues when I did watch parties before, but that could’ve just been my personal laptop. My work one seems to have been up to the challenge.

I had not seen this, and it was quite fun. Also, Lorena Velazquez is the lead. If you’ve seen Santo vs. the Vampire Women or Ship of Monsters, then you know why this is important information. She also has a friend who would be the hottest woman in plenty of movies, but in this case she’s standing next to Lorena Velazquez. That happened to a lot of women in movies with Lorena Velazquez. Just look at Ship of Monsters.

No, seriously, if you haven’t seen Ship of Monsters, stop farting around. Go find it on YouTube. Bask in its absolute glory.

  • It was awesome! I’d never even heard of this one and loved every second. Also surreal to go straight from watching Santa Claus (my sister asked) to this. directed by Rene Cardone, imported and dubbed by K. Gordon Murray, and with the same voice cast.

I’ve seen Ship of Monsters myself, and it is a wonder to behold.

    Yeah, it was great fun!!!

BTW: Watched ‘Krampus’ over the weekend and enjoyed it. Also watched ‘Howl From Beyond the Fog’ and loved it. Thanks Rev!!!

Indeed. Easily one of the best things I have watched via Jabootu.

  • This was what Santo should have been like. Less of the same throws over and again and more genuine butt kicking.

  • The Rev.

Hey, you’re welcome! I know this group has a higher proportion of kaiju enthusiasts than normal so I would be remiss not to mention Howl. Glad you enjoyed it.

Krampus has become a holiday standard for me since finally seeing it a couple years back at Alamo Drafthouse. Just like Die Hard.

I never would have thought about just using puppets for the people as well as the monster but it worked really well!
