Monster of the Day #3265

I’m not sure i like this new, grittier take on Spy vs Spy.

Friday!! Wheee!! Have a great weekend, everyone, and watch something stupid.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Yay, Mosquito Man! He didn’t do too well against Spider-Man, but that’s because he was overtired from being up all night.

  • The Rev.

I actually watched something stupid earlier this week: the first episodes of “The Brady Bunch Variety Hour” and “Pink Lady and Jeff.” BBVH was quite bad. Bless Florence Henderson for trying her damnedest, though. Also, I’m pretty sure Maureen McCormick was in an “altered state” during filming. Maybe not to Carrie Fisher in “The Star Wars Holiday Special” levels, but still. The best part was realizing that the “Simpsons Family Hour” bit was less a parody and more a faithful recreation of this. “PL&J” was more tolerable since talented people (Bert Parks, Sherman Helmsley, and Blondie) popped up in between Jeff Altman’s terminally unfunny bits, and we also had two adorable Japanese women running around (and wearing string bikinis at one point).

So, instead, I may have to look at renting this movie. The practical creature effects have me pretty intrigued.

    Pfft. That guy sucks.

    …………………………..

    WHAT?!

  • Rock Baker

Sorry. The last time you said to watch something stupid over the weekend I instead screened GUNGA DIN. Maybe I should have my membership revoked….

  • Gamera977

    OHMYGAWD!!!!

    You watched a good movie!?!!?

    What’s wrong with you Rock!?!

  • Gamera977

Okay, as to something stupid I watched ‘Tank Girl’ – free with Amazon Prime.

I expected a stupid silly ’90s action picture. And what I got was… well I’m still not entirely sure what I watched. WHAT THE HELL WAS THIS!?!??!

I also rented ‘Frankenstein’s Army’ which I very much liked. Another example of how to make an excellent movie with a minimal budget. The camera point of view was an interesting choice, it made things a lot more claustrophobic and even gave a pretty cool first-person shooter look to the film.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I watched “Kubo and the Two Strings” which I enjoyed. I then found out it wasn’t CGI, but stop motion, and I thought “That’s an insane amount of work.”

Cinema bell curve, man. Cinema bell curve.
