Monster of the Day #3239

When I saw this cover, I really assumed it was a modern piece meant to replicate the feel of an old cover. To my surprise, this is actually a comic book cover from 1951.

Someone was ahead of his time….

    don’t date robots

Nice Futurama reference. Of course, all Futurama references are nice.

At one point looking at the cover art and story title I was like “Looks like something that would star Dudley Manlove.” And then a split second later I realized it really had! Creation of the Humanoids! Pretty much exactly, expect for the Great Gazoo’s embarrassing cousin.

  • Svengoolie just showed that one Saturday before last. Rather a slog I thought.

  • Gamera977

Guess it’s better than Space Raptors…

Though is it really a robot if it’s controlled by Green Gene there?

I saw ‘CotH’ a few years ago on YouTube. It is a little slow but I liked it. I really liked how the plot kept you guessing if the androids were actually malevolent or benevolent.

  • Don’t ask me why, but I want to see a cartoon short based on this image done in the style of Chuck Jones.

  • bgbear_rnh

    I liked it.

I am also a westerns fan and I was happy to see big Dan Megowan in that one.

Famously Andy Warhol’s favorite movie, though.

  • So Adonis 2-PX-89 is the author of “Invasion of the Love Robots”?

Anyway, one can hope there’s enough diversity in the love robots to satisfy everyone.

  • Sandy Petersen

to quote my hero Lileks, “there are three characters on the cover. Which one do you think the potential reader identified with?”

  • Ken_Begg

    Shu..uu..Shut up!

  • Eric Hinkle

‘Invasion of the Love Robots’ sounds like some sort of newspaper headline concerning the latest Japanese tech imports. Really, I’ve read that Japan is seriously trying to make ‘love robots’ for lonely salarymen. Heck, one guy married his Gatebox Virtual Robot.
