Monster of the Day #3237

This is another one I’ve sure I’ve posted before, but damn, that’s fun. The monster face looks a little Basil Wolverton-y, but not the rest of it, so I don’t think so.

No monster, but at least here’s a new cover.

  • Beckoning Chasm

The top one reminds me of Hannes Bok, but it probably isn’t.

  • Who would have thought that the reason allosaurs and their ilk didn’t need long arms was because they had incredibly long prehensile tongues?

  • Wade Harrell

That was my thought! After who knows how many millions of depictions of dinosaurs in pop culture I’ve seen, I think this is the first time I’ve seen one with a chameleon tongue! I almost didn’t even notice at first because of how goofy his face is.

  • Wade Harrell

What is going on in #2? I assume that’s “Scavengers in Space” but is it a sci-fi retelling of Snow White?? Is that the prince trying to take her to an airlock so he can kiss her?

  • bgbear_rnh

    Grave robbers from outer space?

  • Despite the halter top, I feel like she is actually pretty practically equipped for a hunting trip. Sensible boots, gloves, scope for the rifle. I mean not for hunting dinosaurs, but for deer season, she’s set.

  • Manly Reading

As someone who has read the Portal in the Picture, I can tell you the scene is not from that and therefore from “The Hothouse Planet” (which makes sense for toad-dinosaur crossbreeds).

Although I have to ask, are we sure the Blonde is not a giant?

  • Marsden

    No we aren’t. Good point!

  • Marsden

I bet that is what it’s supposed to be but I think it looks like a rope, the guy had a bait on a rope and the monster ate it and the “catch” is quite a bit bigger than he was ready for.

  • Eric Hinkle

    Can’t be, where’s Tor Johnson?

  • Ken_Begg

Actually, I can’t believe I didn’t make a joke about the world’s most awkward rip-off of Demon Slayer, although nobody would have gotten it.

  • Gamera977

My first thought was Snow White??? too.

  • Eric Hinkle

She does look a lot like the Disney version. Maybe Disney can do ‘Snow White in Space’ for their next straight to DVD animated film.
