On a brief vacation next week….

Hey, everyone, not that this would be that unusual, but no posts until maybe Thursday night week. I’ll be visiting my brothers down in Kentucky. Everyone have a fabulous week, and if you watch something fun this weekend, let us know below.

  • Beckoning Chasm

    Have fun!

  • Gamera977

    Yeah, have a safe trip!

  • Eric Hinkle

Has anyone else heard about the reboot of Blacula from MGM? I asked how they thought they could ever replace William Marshall and was already told not to be a racist.

I have such hopes for the movie, don’t you?

  • Eric Hinkle

Oh, and travel safe and have a fun time, Mr. Begg!

  • Marsden

    Safe trip and enjoy!

  • Marsden

I’m going to be blunt, I no longer have any hope for anything to not suck anymore.
Lord of the Rings TV show = crap.
    New He-Man show = crap.
Not to mention, Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, MCU, and just about anything that has been made recently, CRAP.

Well, at least Godzilla is still alive.

  • Safe trip!

  • Sweet zombie Zarathustra!

    I got nothing.

  • Enjoy spending a few days away from the People’s Republic of Chicago.

I mean, ten years ago–really ever since the original Candy Man–I was amazed that no one was rebooting Blacula with Tony Todd, probably the only actor I can think of right off the top of my head that could fill Marshall’s cape. That just seemed like a no brainer. He might be too old now, although isn’t even also returning for that Candy Man reboot? Or has that come out already? I don’t really track this stuff anymore.

  • Ken_Begg

Ugh, tell me about it. But thanks for all the well wishes, folks. You all have a great several days too and see you later this week. Cab arriving in about 20 minutes, wheee!

  • Haven’t a clue. But yes, Todd is one of the few actors that could have pulled it off in his heyday. I always expected him to become a much more mainstream success than he was, given his obvious talents.

  • Eric Hinkle

From what I saw of an article online, they’re not going with Todd. Apparently this time around Mamuwalde is out to get revenge on the white devils and creates an army of black vampires to do it.

  • Eric Hinkle

Going by what I read, it’s going to be Blacula turns BLM into vampires to give whitey the works. Maybe that was just the article being mistaken.

  • Gamera977

Watched the Japanese film ‘Dead Sushi’ the other night on Amazon Prime. Not sure what I’d call it- black comedy? Basically if Sam Rami were Japanese this is a movie he’d make. I’d call it the Japanese ‘Evil Dead’. It’s definitely ‘Spatstick’ – lots of gore but the whole movie is so goofy it’s not really gross (or at least I didn’t think so).

  • zombiewhacker

I dunno, I think someone like Idris Elba would be be up to the task.

Colin Salmon in his younger days might have maybe pulled it off.

But, yeah, William Marshall was great. Miss that guy.

  • Eric Hinkle

Agreed on those two actors. I hope the movie succeeds and proves entertaining to everyone who sees it. It’s just that the descriptions I’ve read of it online make me wary.

  • Ken_Begg

Boy, talk about subverting our expectations. Who could have predicated that?!

  • The Rev.

Sorry I’m late, but I hope you had a fine visit with your brother. I’m currently up in Iowa seeing my family. ’tis the season I guess!

  • Ken_Begg

    Sweet! Have a great time!
