Monster of the Day #3239

Damn Germans! C’mon, guys, how can get something so basic that entirely wrong?

Frankenstein is clearly not in scale to that woman.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Don’t worry, lady! Just step over the frame with your other foot and you’ll be safe!

Well, actually considering the number of times Mechagodzilla has been described as a cyborg and had parts from Godzilla and other kaiju I’d think he’d make a better Frankenstein’s Monster.

    German just makes everything better!

I love the mildly concerned look on woman’s face.

I love this poster. There’s just so much crazy about it, not wrong, just batshit crazy. It’s a great Friday evening.

  • Man, I love this movie. The way Peter Cushing shrugs his shoulders and walks off to the next experiment man. What a flick. What a flick.

Actually I do indeed love this movie. This is Godzilla v. the Sea Monster, which makes only slightly more sense as a title, and is the first of the big guy’s South Seas pictures. A real blast to watch, with one of the most ineffectual foes ever to toss in against our favorite dinosaur. And a giant lobster monster to boot!

Toho weirdly downplayed Godzilla in their international title, which was Ebirah, Horror of the Deep. This was then re-named Ebirah, Terror of the Deep for its UK theatrical release.

Maybe tied to the fact that it was originally written to be a Kong feature? I’m with Cullen. This was my first Godzilla movie as a kid, and I imprinted on it HARD. I was shocked as an adult to learn there is a sizable part of the fanbase that doesn’t like the South Sea films. They are so much fun, and actually feature interesting human casts. I mean, Son of Godzilla, c’mon.

  • Some people just don’t know what the finer things in life are.
