Monster of the Day #3193

Man, I don’t remember this one at all. I wonder if this was the last one and didn’t get distributed as much or something. I will say I think the other bugs lend themselves more to being super gigantic. Wasps and such could be scarier if they were the size of small dogs or something. That said, that’s pretty fantastic.

    Always a Winner!

    What, no Flit joke?

I think it is the balloons that really sell this one.

  • Gamera977

Yeah, I’ve seen the tarantula, scorpion, and mantis but never this one. Pretty friggin’ cool, love the translucent look of the wings.

BTW: ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ opening here Friday!!! WOOO HOOOOOOO!!!

  • The Rev.

Yeah, I actually bought the tarantula, mantis, and scorpion for fun. Never did finish putting them together and painting them, though. But I never saw this one, and I wish I had. The wings are indeed nice.

I too am excited about GvK. I have Friday off so I might go out to see it, but will probably end up waiting a week or so to let crowds die down a bit. I don’t suppose I can wait too long though; who knows how long the theater run will be?

  • Rock Baker

You’re right, Ken, this one was pressed in fewer numbers for some reason (so I heard). The suggested paint scheme was more like a yellow-jacket, but Pop painted his like a red wasp as is common to our neck of the woods. It looked pretty fantastic.

  • Eric Hinkle

Gosh, if it was only a little bigger you could tell people it was a model of the Japanese Giant Hornet!

  • zombiewhacker

Wait, we’re not calling them Monster of the Day anymore, we’re just tagging them with a number, then off with ya!?

    How… how dehumanizing!

  • Ken_Begg

Yeah, the balloons are a great touch.

  • Ken_Begg

And who knows if there will be crowds? We really don’t know how much theater attendance will be effected by the same day release on streaming. We’ll find out soon, I suppose.

  • Ken_Begg

    My bad, and fixed! Thanks!
