Monster of the Day #3165

Question of the Day: Is this poster scarier if those are ghost cats, or just regular cats?

  • Beckoning Chasm

If it’s a regular cat, it’s as big as a battleship!

  • kgb_san_diego

After reading your description, my first thought was “Cats? There’s only one…”

  • Kirk

    Yes.

  • Beckoning Chasm

There’s a couple of pairs of cat eyes in the background.

  • Let’s look at the question logically.

    * Big cats, such as the mountain lion and non mountain lion, are scary to see in real life, outside cages.

    * Cats that look like they’ve been possessed by the Devil or perhaps curl up at his fireplace in Hell are also very scary.

Thus we can infer that the cats as presented in this piece are not only scary but twice as terrifying as either a big cat or a demonic looking feline.

Now one would suppose that if these cats were ghostly as well, they would be at the least three times as horrifying as a normal tabby. This, however, is not the case. A casual perusal of the Casper the Friendly Ghost series reveals that Ghosts are among the most terrifying thing in existence. All one has to do to you is go up and say, “Hello!” to instill an incontrollable feeling of dread, to the point immediate flight is the only option.

As this fearful nature is true of little children Ghosts, one can only imagine the pure, unadulterated power of a Ghost Big Cat That Looks Like the Devil’s Kitten. Upon seeing such an apparition, the viewer would undoubtedly would drop dead with fright.

Unless you had a laser pointer. Then you’re good.

In any case, it seems clear that Ghost Cat wins bigly.

This has been Cullen M. M. Waters, once again overthinking things for you even though you would never have bothered to do so in the first place.

Well, I’ve said ‘the only good cat is a dead cat’…

I had not reckoned on the dead cats being ghost cats…

  • Ken_Begg

Ding! Right answer. (Of course, Kirk is our resident cat expert, so…..)

  • Eric Hinkle

    Okay. What movie is this?

  • Ken_Begg

I believe it’s Ghost Cat Mansion, which is pretty great.

  • The Rev.

    *adds it to The List*

  • The_Shadow_Knows

Is that aka Black Cat Mansion (1958)? If so, it’s (very mildly) interesting that the cat face looks vaguely like the Black Cat Fireworks logo. I guess it’s probably just a coincidence – one snarling cartoon cat face looks much like another.

  • Eric Hinkle

The title alone makes me want to see this one.
