Monster of the Day #3124

It’s been a while since we covered movies available for free on YouTube (although their out of nowhere commercial interruptions are pretty obnoxious). There seem to be a lot of very nice prints (presumably pirated) available there.

Universal Video seems to be an official Universal channel. They don’t have a lot of horror on there (they do have some William Powell movies, though). However, they have a nice print of Killdozer up. I don’t know if it’s quite as fun as The Car, but certainly it’s better than Maximum Overdrive.

I use AdBlock Plus in Firefox, and the only ads I get are ones put in by the posters (paid promotion).

  • I find this one dull. I want to like it way more than I do, although Robert Urich gets a bit of nice overacting before he kacks it. I’d rather watch Maximum Overdrive any day. Oh, it isn’t better, just way more entertaining in its sheer ineptitude. And at least it has an awesome AC/DC soundtrack.

Howard Johnson…er, I mean, Galaxy Jane is right!

  • Eric Hinkle

The movie was goofy; and I forget, but didn’t you once cover the Marvel Comics version of the story here on the blog?

Really though I would love to find a copy of the original story to read. Sturgeon is one of those authors who desperately needs to be reprinted.

  • Most if not all of Sturgeon’s short stories and novels have been reprinted fairly recently. They can be gotten as e-books from Amazon (if that’s the way you read) or in more tangible form.

  • Eric Hinkle

    Thanks. I’ll look for them.

  • Rodford Smith

I actually read the short story many years ago. Forget where.

  • Harrumph!

If I ever get to B-Fest or T-Fest I’m calling you GJ ‘Princess Dragon Mom’ and your husband is going to be ‘King Dragon Dad’…..

  • I’ll take it! Of course we actually live a heck of a lot closer to each other than either of us do to Chicago or Texas, lol.
