Monster of the Day #3089

Few films are as consistently wacky as Super Infra-Man (available on Amazon Prime), but one of them is Latitude Zero. It maybe drags a bit at time, but man, it is nutty. Also available on Prime.

So batguano insane I picked up a copy on DVD years ago. Although I guess it’s time to see if there’s a Blu-Ray edition now!

BTW: I did pick up ‘Jaws’ on Blu-Ray and watched it last night. For someone accustomed to a grainy TV print the difference is astounding.

  • Worst. Narnia. Crossover. Ever.

  • I have the Brazilian VHS of this film. Thankfully, it’s in English with Portuguese subtitles.

It used to be a lot harder to stay on the Island of Misfit Toys until King Moonracer relaxed the immigration policy.

Here’s a question from someone who’s never seen it: how good’s the acting in this movie? Given the stellar cast of veteran Hollywood actors involved, does anyone here go the extra mile, or are they basically phoning it in?

  • Rock Baker

Based on an equally wacky radio series from the late 40’s, though by the time of the movie the radio version had been prettymuch forgotten. It’s selection as a subject for big screen adaptation (an international one at that) is pretty mystifying.

  • Rock Baker

Seems like the acting is about what you would expect. A bit over the top at times given the subject matter, but professionally so. Cotten was ill during filming and had to be talked into finishing the picture, but that doesn’t show.

  • Some one involved must have been a fan back in the day.

  • zombiewhacker

    “… but that doesn’t show.”

Ah, that’s the sign of an old pro right there. Always liked Joseph Cotten.

  • zombiewhacker

Having established that the star of this epic was the late, great Joseph Cotten, are there any suggestions out there for alternative film titles?

    “Citizen Fang.”
    “Journey into Fur.”
    “The Third Mane.”
    “Since You Went AAAARRGHH!”

  • Eric Hinkle

Heck I’ll watch it just to see Cesar Romero play a villain who doesn’t spend all his time cackling.

  • Ken_Begg

    Or the best.

  • Ken_Begg

    Uhm, about that….

  • zombiewhacker

    Uh oh…

  • Eric Hinkle

    XD Poor Romero.
