Monster of the Day #3020

Our old pals at Cult Cinema Classics on YouTube continue to post movies every day, although they seem to be running lower on horror films. Not out of them, but the volume has dipped. They did post the sleazy mini-classic The Brain that Wouldn’t Die the other day, though.

While we’re all monster guys, I would exhort folks to check out just the regular movies they post too. These lately have ranged from the Fred Astaire flick Royal Wedding, which has the tremendous dancing-on-the-walls number. Ed Wood’s Jail Bait is up, The Mystery of Mr. Wong with Boris Karloff, The Road to Bali with Hope and Crosby, a couple of the Rathbone Holmes films, and western fans might want to check out John Wayne’s amiable McLintock! or the affectionate ode to older stars The Over the Hill Gang. All that an more in less than the last week.

Mostly, keep safe everyone.

Yeah, they have managed to find a bunch of interesting stuff. I’ve subscribed, though (ulp) I’ve yet to watch any of their offerings. (With YouTube, a lot depends on the subject, but I find myself seeking out shorter and shorter entertainment. “Three hours to rant about ‘The Rise of Skywalker’? Ooo, here’s one that’s twelve minutes!”

‘Jan, why don’t you go make me a sandwich, HAHA, that never gets old!!!’

  • Ken_Begg

“No, please, don’t get up. Get it? You can’t get up, because you’re just a head. Hellooooo!”

  • Eric Hinkle

No wonder she wanted to watch him die with jokes like that.

I just stumbled across something kind of odd on Amazon Prime. They’re offering a movie titled ORCS which basically is, according to the blurb, ‘what if the Orcs from the LoTR movies invaded one of America’s National Parks, and the rangers had to fight them off’? So you have Azog, Bolg, Gothmog, and the rest of the gang ripping up Yellowstone and your standard horror movie collection of loathsome imbeciles who exist solely to be killed. Sure. Why not.

The part that feels ominous is where one of the more enthusiastic reviews described it as ‘crazier than the Sharknado movies’. Which leaves me wondering if I want to watch it or purge it from the Earth.

Is there a trailer available? You can usually get a sense of the thing from the trailer.

  • Gamera977

Oh gosh that sounds so insane I’m going to have to look it up.

  • Eric Hinkle

Yes, it has a trailer on Amazon Prime. I looked at it before I wrote the review. It looks ridiculous.

Personally I hope it ends with the Orcs getting liberated from Dark Lord Whoever so they can all become football or rugby players or something like that. They’d be naturals for it.

It’s for free if you have an Amazon Prime account.
