Monster of the Day #2078

Let’s get back to Eric H’s suggested comic series. Gold Key again demonstrates how they got thousands and thousands of kids to wheedle thirty cents out of their parents.

The Centrosaurus is a sporty ride but I hear it gets really lousy mileage…

Sorry guys. My dad passed away last week and I had all the stuff going on there plus I didn’t feel like posting anything. Hopefully things will get better from here on out. And I could really use some levity right now.

Ancient man riding dinosaurs and fighting aliens? What if it were true?

  • Gamera977

And I’ll give ’em points for after all the space women in helmets and something like a one-piece bathing suit it’s nice to see some guys in outfits just as impractical.

  • Gamera977

I always thought you could do a drinking game with ‘Ancient Aliens’. Every time Childress said ‘What if it were possible?’ or whatever he said you could take a slug. I swear your liver would be screaming for mercy before the episode were halfway though.

    Space hippies!

    We reach.

  • Rock Baker

    My condolences, my friend.

  • Rock Baker

Suddenly, Dino-Riders doesn’t seem that original.

  • Eric Hinkle

All best wishes and prayers to you and your family.

What, David Hatcher Childress has a TV/cable show now? Being a fan of lost civilizations, Atlantis and the like, I love his books but I think he’s a trifle off. In a good way. Like the one book where he has dinosaur-riding, diamond-mining Assyrians in Central Africa.

Note that his books are intended as nonfiction.

  • bgbear_rnh

He has been on Ancient Aliens from the beginning I believe. On about 11 seasons.

  • Eric Hinkle

Oh well, I think I’ve seen maybe two or three episodes of that show over the years. It didn’t impress me too much.

  • Gamera977

    Thanks guys…

  • Gamera977

I think I’ve seen about half to two-thirds of them. I swear about 95% of the episodes are ancient Egypt, Meso-America, and the Nazis. After awhile the show repeats so much it gets kinda dull.

  • bgbear_rnh

I record a few and run them in the background. I like to keep up with how they keep the narrative going. It is really a fascinating study of how smart people can convince themselves and others of so much with so little evidence.

  • Gamera977

Can’t argue with that. They come off as kooks but at least as harmless kooks. I used to let the series run in the background while model building. I few years ago I moved on to YouTube videos- I’m not sure it’s much of an improvement.
I got kinda burnt out with them constantly pushing ‘startling new evidence that will silence the deniers’ and it’s the same ‘evidence’ you can see in UFO documentaries from the late ’70s. So what’s ‘new’ about forty year old facts?!?!
And pushing nonsense like the ‘Majestic Twelve’. Something that was debunked so hard that the vast majority of UFO true believers don’t support it.

  • Sorry to hear that. Best wishes.

  • All I can say is that there can never be too many Styracosaurus drawings. Like Anklyosaurus, the big guy ain’t used often enough for my tastes.

I see the Oompa Lumpas brought out the jetpacks and ray guns. Would Willy approve?
