Monster of the Day #2075

So…I’ve finally seen a Friday the 13th movie. (Obviously I did see Freddy vs Jason, but I mean a ‘real’ one.) Meh. Hey, remember when all the monsters–Jason, Leprechaun, Hellraiser, Dracula–were going to outer space?

And I don’t think going to space worked out well for any of them, movie-quality-wise.

I don’t remember a lot of this. Like all the Friday films, it doesn’t have a single, solitary brain cell but there were some cute moments here and there. And I guess David Cronenberg really owed someone a huge favor.

Did they want to test the “in space no one can hear you scream” assertion?

  • Jeez. Too bad your first Ft13 wasn’t a good one like… um… er… that is…

Well, the first one wasn’t that bad and Part Two is fairly decent, for what it was,

This one was definitely strange. I got the bizarre feeling that I sometimes get that there was an honest-to-goodness better movie hiding in there somewhere that just never managed to make it to the final picture. The part where they distract Jason with fake hologram teenagers having sex was actually pretty clever.

  • Rock Baker

My two cents. The sixth film actually has a pretty good story. Of course, to get to it one must slog through the first five…

The 8th or whichever entry boasts a fairly meaty role for Mark Richman, although it’s a fairly sad note that he’s even in one of them.

I agree. I also think 4 is pretty decent, and I agree with Rock below regarding 6.

With this, the only one I haven’t seen now is 7, where Jason fights the psychic girl. As for Jason in space…well, it’s about as stupid as you’d expect and I’ve already forgotten most of it. I did like the actress shown here; she was pretty fun.
