Monster of the Day #2043

Many people, perhaps most, think Ghost Galleon, the third of the four Blind Dead movies, is the worst. I like nautical ghost stories, though, and find the ship setting pleasingly claustrophobic. The whole affair reminds me of a William Hope Hodgson story. Free, assuming you have Amazon Prime.

    As said I watched this last week, I thought someone here said it was the best- I must have gotten things backwards. I did like the claustrophobia, not only stuck on a ghost ship in the middle of the ocean but in another dimension as well!

  • The first two movies in the series were really rather entertaining. One of the more interesting monsters, too.

    The monsters are fantastic and creepy and just…yeah, I love ’em.

    I really, really like the first movie, and the second one I enjoyed once I put to rest my objections re: the lore of the first one and embraced it as an alternate-reality story of the Blind Dead (which is what every movie in the series is, really). This one…I don’t know. I guess I need to rewatch it, because not just Ken but several others seem to like it just fine, whereas I recall spending part of the time hating the characters and part of the time bored. I feel like I missed something…or maybe it’ll turn out I didn’t and that’s just how I feel about it. And I really need to get around to the fourth one at some point.

    Well, I’ve always reupped for the free shipping, so the streaming video is a bonus. And I’m still mostly watching anime. (A bit of that on Amazon, though.) But man, they really are beefing up their b movie holdings.
