Monster of the Day #2032

I mean, it’s a great cover, but I’m kind of scratching my head about the terror-invoking potential of a giant scarecrow.

  • Ericb

It’s hard to believe there’s not at least one smoker among all those people.

  • Gamera977

‘How about a little NAPLAM Scarecrow!?!’

  • KeithB

Lex Luthor in the window looks like he is pretty upset.

  • Beckoning Chasm

And of course, on the right rooftop there’s a guy pointing the monster out. “No, no, look over this way! See the giant scarecrow now?”

  • Eric Hinkle

Who even makes a giant scarecrow in the first place?

  • Eric Hinkle

“I knew those health nuts would kill us all!”

  • Eric Hinkle

That was a classic Marvel bit. Happened in their giant monster titles, superheroes, everything. “Look! The Space Dragon is destroying Manhattan!” “Yeesh, we know. What d’ya think we are, blind?”

  • bgbear_rnh

    Tippi Hedren

  • Gamera977

He’s just being careful to point out THAT kaiju scarecrow as opposed to the other ones.

  • All that hay can be really itchy!

  • Gamera977

Yeah, I think ‘Lex’ is worried about his hay fever allergy…

  • Gamera977

BTW: Has anyone else seen the trailer for the movie version of ‘Cats’ coming out this Christmas? I’m not one to bring up the whole ‘uncanny valley’ thing normally but frankly I find the anthropomorphic ‘cats’ as creepy as hell. Personally I think Jabootu laid a big fat sloppy wet kiss on this sucka.

  • bgbear_rnh

If cats looked like that no one would have one in their home.

  • Beckoning Chasm

I bet the scarecrow is yelling “Braaaaaaaiiinns!”

  • Gamera977

If they were only as adorable as bears or turtles everyone would own one.

  • Anything that can knock over buildings without even thinking about it is automatically terrifying. That it can become a towering inferno at any moment only adds.

  • Eric Hinkle

Yeah, the pictures I’ve seen of the movie felines left me shuddering.

  • Mike Weller

It’s like Japanese movie/TV characters yelling out a characters name. “GODZILLA!”
“Great. Now I know who to put on the insurance form. Thanks.”
