Monster of the Day #1986

Yeah, what he said. Here’s a great monster from 1986. One of the last great screen musicals, and a tremendous beastie.

I still haven’t seen this. And there’s no excuse since I have it on DVD. Guess it’s partly I not liking musicals very much and partly I love the original so much. Though from I’ve heard the remake is very, very good.

I’m a mean green muppet from outer space and I’m bad!

I recently re-watched this because my teenage daughter is obsessed with this movie. The DVD had some great extras about the making of the film, including some wild concept art from the original ending that had the plant enveloping the entire city.

The cut of the film where the plants take over is on DVD as well. Honestly, though, it’s not as strong a flick.

I was one of the few who caught the first episode of the Saturday morning cartoon spin-off!

Off topic, but I recently got a copy of ON DEADLY GROUND in a batch of VHS tapes. I think it may be even worse than Ken’s review implies. It could easily have been titled THE SON OF BILLY JACK with no change to it at all.

    Except for more explosions.

About that. I watch Arnold for explosions and gun battles. When I watch a Segal picture, it’s to see him take on a bunch of guys with his bare hands. The flick was a rip-off in every sense!
