Monster of the Day #1964

Speaking of films that look better in the poster, here’s the Japanese art for Giant Spider Invasion. (!) I wonder if this is a cinema poster or a home video cover? I think it’s funny that it reached Japan in either way, but could it possibly have played in theaters?

  • Beckoning Chasm

I would pay good money to see the film that accurately reflects that poster.

  • Gamera977

Now that poster is writing some serious checks the movie cannot cash…

    Barbara Hale. Hubba, hubba.

  • That is a $5000 promise for a $5 movie.

  • Eric Hinkle

I wonder how the audiences who were pulled in by that poster reacted upon seeing the movie. I imagine them spontaneously re-enacting the depicted scene of mass devastation in their outrage.

  • Ericb

As hard as it is to believe but the poster must have been the the artist’s rendition of the famous “Packers won the Super Bowl!” scene.

  • Rock Baker

I like the implication of Hal Needham style car stunts in addition to everything else. Remove the spider and you’ve got a great generic image for a disaster movie.

  • Mike Weller

“Pork vacuum- I mean sheriff speaking…”
“Well, gotta go drain the little buddy.”
“How was yer day at the whore?

  • Mike Weller

Yeah, and you could substitute the spider for any Kaiju as well Godzilla?, Gamera?, King Kong? Just stick ’em in there, and away we go!

  • zombiewhacker

Isn’t this coming back to theaters in August as a Rifftrax Live?

  • bgbear_rnh

    Alan Hale. Bubba, bubba.

  • bgbear_rnh

    Yes, already have our tickets.

  • Eric Hinkle

Nah, celebrating Packers fans would be causing much more damage than this.

  • Gamera977

The destruction of Milwaukee was not my fault. It was another Kaiju. No one saw me, no has any evidence, no one can prove anything…
