Monster of the Day #1893

Uhhhh…OK, everyone. Let’s go light on the smutty jokes. Nobody ever gets the big rooms by working blue.

  • Gamera977

‘You shot the monster with a can of whipped cream!?!’

‘Shut up, it’s the first thing I grabbed! You were the one who yelled at me to go in the kitchen and make you a damn sandwich!’

Was that clean enough for you Ken???

  • Beckoning Chasm

“Stop spraying him! Can’t you tell I’m trying to punch him?”

  • KeithB

    I’ll bet it’s Nair.

  • BGBear_rnh

I don’t get it. I just can’t think of any dirty jokes about having four arms and one eye. Maybe it will come to me.

  • BGBear_rnh

    or lemon juice.

    Go for the eye!

  • Eric Hinkle

That thing looks like it came out of a particularly wonky AD&D book.

  • Gamera977

    ‘Fiend Folio’ for sure!

  • Gamera977

Again neither here nor there but ‘Ultraman’ has been mentioned here a few times so… I watched a Japanese comedy called ‘Outerman’ last night. It’s a parody of ‘Ultraman’- you have a TV series called ‘Outerman’ that’s been running on Japanese TV for fifty years. Then a real life ‘Outerman’ shows up in Japan and the government finds out he’s not quite the heroic defender of Earth from the series. So they put together a group consisting of the cast of the TV show and some of the most rabid fans and wacky hi-jinks ensure.

  • Gamera977

    And R.I.P. Jan-Michael Vincent… (sigh)

  • BGBear_rnh

Damn Chongo finally got him ;-)

  • Flangepart

Nice monster hair. Wanted to be a Monkee, and Micky Dolenz told him ‘No?’
Also…maybe the alien is allergic to whipped cream? Hey, he’s an alien, so…

  • BGBear_rnh

I just noticed that the image outside/on screen is rather suggestive as well.

  • Eric Hinkle

So it’s like Ultraman meets Galaxy Quest?

  • zombiewhacker

Oooh, I saw what you did there. Nice!

  • Gamera977

Hmmm, didn’t think about that but yes it is!

I don’t think it’s anywhere as funny as ‘GQ’ though. Of course as a ‘Trek’ fan I’m partial to it more than ‘Ultraman’. ‘Outerman’ is funny but more of a smile funny to me than laugh out loud funny. And it was shot on a tiny budget, there’s only about a dozen or so actors other than the extras in crowd scenes. Most scenes are shot in redressed offices. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but I wonder what they could have done on a bigger budget.

It’s worth seeing but I wouldn’t rush out to do so. I’d give it 3 stars out of 5.

“Let’s take The Plague Ship, you said, it’s probably an ironic name like Greenland, you said.”

“Oh, be quiet and help me fight this thing.”
